MEMORANDUM
Subject: Addendum to Resume for Brian Westerman
This addendum will attempt to cover those particular items which were not included on my resume pertaining to OS/390, MVS/ESA V5, CICS/ESA V4, RACF and ACF/2 security, ACF/VTAM Networking, DB/2 and the DFSMS Program product and the DFHSM and ABARS features.
I have performed Multi-month contracts for IBM to work in the design & development teams for MVS/ESA V3, V4 & V5 as well as OS/390 V1R1 2 &3 and V2R4, CICS/ESA V3 & V4, IMS/ESA V4 & V5 and the last 4 Versions of DB/2, as well as contracts for both Hitachi and Amdahl to ensure that the newest releases of MVS/ESA and other supporting products will run efficiently on their respective processors. I have been in the past actively involved with the IBM Vendor support and Early Ship Programs for these products. These programs are for Vendors who wish to make their products compliant with the new versions of the various systems and for customers who desire to run the newest version(s) of the software before it is generally available. I have developed hundreds of performance and testing routines and enhancements for MVS/ESA, some of which are included with OS/390 and the MVS/ESA Version 5 operating system and some are only available internally from IBM or on the various MVS "share" tapes. I have also provided IBM Level 2 support for DFSMS (this includes the HSM, TMM and ABARS queues) and the ACF/VTAM and NCP queues.
This contract was a natural follow-on to the previous IBM contract to design and develop new features which were implemented into the DFSMS Program Product under MVS/ESA Version 4. Particular responsibilities for this contract were to interface ABARS with Concurrent Copy and to support the CICS BWO (Backup While Open) feature. Also added support for VTAM network assisted backup of network LANs. Enhanced support for Aggregate Groups and ARPOOLs was also coded, as well as coordinating the ABARS/SMS interface so that ABARS would know what to do in the event that SMS is either up or down. This contract was a nine month overall contract which was performed in 3 and 6 month individual contracts.
I have installed the Computer Associates ACF/2 resource control product 31 times from scratch, Computer Associates Top Secret 6 times and have installed IBMs RACF 44 times from scratch. I have performed 18 conversions from RACF to ACF/2 and 47 conversions from ACF/2 (or Top Secret) to RACF.
I am a contributor to the IBM GG24-3861 DFSMShsm Enhancements (RED BOOK) as well as GG24-4112 ACF/VTAM Network Generation and several MVS/ESA conversion experiences Technical Bulletins. I was responsible for the IBMINFO item which is used both internally and externally as a guide for Data center migration utilizing DFHSM/ABARS and VTAM Network Assisted Support.
I went on to perform contracts for Sterling Systems (Vendor for SAMS disk, previously DMS/OS, and SAMS compress, previously SHRINK/MVS), to implement corrective support and new features to allow the products to function better in a SMS environment, as well as to create a design plan for support of IBM's Concurrent Copy and enhance the sterling software compression package (Sams Compress). Support was also provided to other groups which needed the high level of DFSMS / HSM / ABARS / TMM experience which our consultants have.
I have completed 41 Data center migrations (22 SMS sites and 19 non-SMS sites) over the last 6 years. Some of the sites requested the implementation of SMS prior to the consolidation which was performed as requested, all sites required ACF/VTAM, SNA, NCP Networking Support and either CICS or IMS, 17 sites required DB/2.
I have been a consultant to IBM's Professional Services Division in matters of customer installation or problems with MVS/ESA, CICS/ESA, DB/2, IMS, DFSMS, HSM, TMM, and ABARS for the past 4 years.
I worked as the design and development team for Landmark Systems Corporations TMON for CICS/ESA prototype which was eventually implemented with very few changes as TMON/CICS-ESA Version 9. Many of the ESA specific facilities and routines developed by him during that project were also implemented into the companys TMON for MVS product.
I have also completed contracts for IBM's ISSC corporation, these contracts involved support for the IBM ISSC Banking Tower within the MVS and CICS teams, the Banking Tower is a collection of outsourced banking institutions which are clients of IBM ISSC, and are maintained on interconnected mainframes in Boulder, Colorado. Support was provided support and to allow full implementation of SMS/HSM/TMM and ABARS with all of the interconnected systems which are sharing processors and DASD without giving up security and flexibility. The Banking clients are for all purposes separate from each other even though they share the same Hardware and in some cases software. They also provided support for the IBM FOCUS system which is the 2nd largest private interconnected backbone network in the world behind ADVANTIS.
Support was provided to STK Corporation (Storagetek, the vendor for the 4400 tape silos). To provide input in designing STK's response to the IBM Automated Tape System. Previously STK only supported NON-SMS Managed Tape and IBM only supported SMS Managed Tape.
