Axis Communications

Axis business mission is to make appliances and peripherals network- and Intranet-ready.
The AXIS print servers, CD-ROM servers (the AXIS StorPoint series) and network ready camera (the AXIS NetEye), provide the whole workgroup full access to shared resources such as printers, CD-based information (in drives, towers and jukeboxes) and cameras on the network.
Axis products enable connection of such resources directly to the LAN, instead of via a PC, server or workstation, and they can thus function as an addressable, dedicated and independent node and web-server. The Axis IBM protocol converters, with which the company started its business in 1984, connects printers to IBM mainframe and AS/400 systems.

Bus-Tech's Mainframe Appliance for Storage

The Mainframe Appliance for Storage is a System/390 controller supporting ESCON attachment to the mainframe and Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel or Ultra SCSI connection to open-system storage devices. The MAS emulates up to 16 IBM 3480 virtual tape drives per ESCON channel and utilizes a "tape-on-disk" technique to read and write mainframe tape data onto open-system storage devices. Using tape virtualization provides the ability to implement total tape automation. The MAS is designed to operate with VSE, OS/390 and z/OS.
The MAS also supports data exchange between mainframes and open system platforms. The MAS supports writing or reading a "flat" file format compatible with Windows, Unix, or Linux systems. Combined with support for networked disks, flat file data exchange allows the MAS to deliver mainframe data anywhere in the corporate network without the use of expensive specialized mainframe application software
